  12. This  document  hopefully  lists  all  versions  of  currently available and
  13. functional  software  written  to  perform on Merlin graphics boards with or
  14. without X-Calibur digitizer.
  15.  
  16. If  there  are  known  programs  written for the Merlin board but not listed
  17. here, please contact the list maintainer so he can actualize the list.

  20. General information:
  21. --------------------

  23. The  display  capabilities  of  the  Merlin  graphics  board  with  possibly
  24. piggibacked  X-Calibur  realtime digitizer are handled using a collection of
  25. dynamic  shared  libraries.   The  integration  of the graphics functions of
  26. these  libraries  into  the Amiga system is implemented via a system monitor
  27. driver.

  29. ProBench  comprises  all  of  these  components, libraries and monitor.  The
  30. library  need  for digitizer support is supplied with ProDig.  The currently
  31. available versions of both packages are:
  32.  
  33. -ProBench 3
  34. -ProDig   2
  35.  
  36. Both  are  commercial  products  of ProDev.  For further information contact
  37. ProDev.

  39. Currently  available  are  the  first  eight  free  updates of ProBench 3 at
  40. ProDev's BBS.  The latest update is found on Aminet, too.

  43. Software availability:

  46. Programs  in  this list are found at the source indicated.
  47.  
  48. If  the  source  is  "X-Pert", you should already have the programs, because
  49. they came with the Merlin board.
  50.  
  51. If the source is "ProDev" there are several possibilities:
  52.  
  53. -The  program  is part of a commercial distribution.  You'd have to purchase
  54. the  appropriate  software  package  to  obtain the program.  Please contact
  55. ProDev for further information.
  56.  
  57. -The  program  is  included in one of the free update packages on Aminet.
  58.  
  59. -The  program  is  not  commercial  and  may be downloaded for free from the
  60. ProDev BBS.
  61.  
  62. When  the  program  is  found  on "AmiNet", just use the find feature of the
  63. AminetDownloadTool to locate the desired file.

  76. Several  of  the  drivers  and  programs  mentioned  come  in  a new version
  77. distributed  with  ProBench 3 and ProDig 2.  You should not be confused that
  78. some  of  the  version  numbers  have  not been bumped up.  Nevertheless you
  79. should  install  all  the  new  drivers over the old ones, because otherwise
  80. misfunctions  may  occur.   New  Drivers  without  bumped version number are
  81. marked with a "#".

  83. As a matter of fact, though not exactly what one might expect, several older
  84. programs  relying  on  HRG functions are broken under ProBench 3.  Those are
  85. therefore marked with a "*".
  86.  
  87. Since  the  introduction  of  ProBench  3  and  ProDig  2  some of the older
  88. utilities  supplied  with ProBench 2 and ProDig 1 are obsolete and should be
  89. removed from the installation.  You identify them by a "%" remark.
